The movie stars Silambarasan and Trisha playing the lead roles. A R Rahman has scored the music. The movie did created news with its audio launch as it was the first time for a Kollywood movie to get its audio launch in London. Anyways nothing can be predicted. Lets hope the movie does a good job. Karthik is our young hero. A 22-year-old man who has just finished his engineering degree and has cinema on his brain - he wants to become a film-maker one day. He is no shirker in his efforts; his days are spent knocking down doors of film directors' offices and studio hangars, hoping for a chance at assisting an established film-maker. And then one day, Jessie breezes into his life.That is what Karthik feels when he sees Jessie from afar. She lives upstairs on their two-level independent home and barely notices him for the first few weeks. Then the contrived "chance" encounter by Karthik on their rooftop, the fervently planned meeting at a KFC joint where Jessie works, the way he blurts his love to her, his impulsive trip all the way to her native Alapuzha to apologize to her for that, their discovery of their love and - the strongest element in their love story - whether they are fated to be together or part ways, given their tumultuous environment. Jessie is torn between her love for Karthik and loyalty to her family. Vinnai thandi Varuvaya is a sweet love story that revolves around Simbhu and Trisha.Simbhu plays a very cute guy in this very sweet romance, while Trisha attracts everyone with her traditional wear and superb cool look. To make the music more special, two songs has been shot in Malta Islands.

Nagarjuna made his debut as hero from Akkineni’s clan and has been maintaining the star image till date. In order to continue the tradition,Naga Chaitanya son of Nagarjuna has also made his entry into films with Josh. While Nagarjuna paired up with Radha, heroine of yesteryears, in many films, his son has got the opportunity to pair up with her daughter Karthika. Dil Raju, who is known as the most successful producer of the Tollywood, has introduced Vasu Varma as director of this film. Thoughthe filmis titled ‘Josh’, the fizz of youth, is very low.

Satya Naga Chaitanya is a youth from an upper middle class family. He is quite an intelligent boy and completes his pre-degree course (Intermediate) as a bright student. His father always supports him as he believes that whatever decision Satya takes would be wise. He joins the degree course and finds that life just doesn’t mean education and there is lot to enjoy. Suddenly, he declares that he doesn’t want to study and decides to leave for Hyderabad from Vizag. There, in Vizag, he stays with his maternal uncle (Sunil) and gets a job in a nursery. He had an accidental meeting with Vidya (Karthika), whose brother runs an Irani café near MGM College. Fed up with the students clashes and ragging, Vidya’s brother refuses to admit her in the college. So Vidya joins a nursery school as a teacher. But she dreams of joining college and enjoying the life.

Vidya and Satya develop friendship and then fall in love. On the other side, the students of MGM college are divided into two groups and they move under the eagle eye of JD (JD Chakravarthy), who was once a students leader and later became the youth leader of a political party. Whenever the party wants to organize dharnas, the students move at the directions of JD. Believing that JD is behind them, the students behave like goons. At times this leads to clashes. Once they hold a dharna and destroy the government property, buses and other vehicles. Satya lodges a complaint with the police that he has witnessed these unlawful acts. This causes heartburn among the students and they attack Satya.

In order to mend them, Satya too joins the college. Later, the students attack Satya and his friends, who are admitted to the hospital. Then Satya reveals that he did not join the college casually but to change the attitude of the students. He reveals the flashback where he too moved with a gang of friends and did lots of mischief. He never listened to the good words of the college principal Prakash Raj. Once, Satya participated in a bike race and took the principal’s son with him. During the race, Satya’s bike met with an accident and the principal’s son died in the incident. This incident made Satya realise the value of life, as no one complained against Satya, just because they strongly felt that a student’s character would be ruined.

Satya also realised that the defect is not in the colleges or in the education system but in the age group. So, Satya wants to reform the minds of the students. His efforts turn fruitful by the timethe filmreaches climax and everyone shed their violent behaviour.. At the same time, Satya teaches JD a lesson as well.

PLUS:

Storyline is the basic plus point ofthe filmas the director has chosen a novel subject with a hidden message. However, the film doesn’t appear as a message-oriented film as it runs as an undercurrent. Director Vasu Varma needs to be complimented for choosing such an off-beat story with a debut hero, despite it is a debut film for him and the heroine too. He has moulded the hero’s character with good precision and has tried to elevate his image with a slow and soft nature. Though facing the camera for the first time,Naga Chaitanyais very casual and has shown lots of ease in dances and action scenes. However, he needs to improve his body language further.

Karthika appears fresh and has not resorted to any kind of skin show, like the present generation heroines. She is quite homely and appears as the girl next door. For the first time, Red Eye camera has been used to shootthe filmwhich has helped the producer to avoid wastage of film as it is being shot in digital mode. A couple of songs tuned by Sandeep Choutha are okay. Though they are good to listen, their choreography lacks the josh in total. Camera by Sameer Reddy and editing by Marthand K Venkatesh are okay.

MINUS:

The director, who has chosen a brilliant story for his film, has failed to present it properly on the screen in the absence of experience. In fact,the filmappears good but it lacks the youthfulness. Especially, he has failed to project the hero in an enterprising way and the character moves with a subdued note as it runs in a slow nature. Moreover, the hero needs to improve his dialogue modulation. Of course, it might be because it is his first movie. Though the story has different elements like love and action, the love scenes between the hero and heroine too are not properly elevated and there are no romantic songs or scenes between them. Basically, the film has a slow run and this can disappoint the youth. But the film would attract the students as it has college in the backdrop.

REMARKS:

Basically, one should not compare one artiste with another because every one has their own style. Because,Naga Chaitanyarepresents two families from Tollywood, Nagarjuna and Venkatesh, he has lots of scope to improve his acting skills and can overcome all the hiccups he has faced in the first film. Let us hope that Naga Chaitanya would do much better in his next film. Karthika appears quite promising and once againPrakash Raj who has had a very short character in the film has excelled in the role. Comic relief by Sunil is good and the audiences have a hearty laugh in a couple of scenes.

C 1600 Aravalli, the kingdom of Udaygarh. Two lovers die; one a warrior and the other a princess, confessing their love for each other. Their love remains unfulfilled. And the person who cremates them -- Sher Khan (Srihari) says aloud that they will be reborn again to unite. Fast forward 400 years, and lo, they are. A reincarnation story is not often seen in Telugu cinema and SS Rajamouli uses this theme for Ram Charan Teja's second film Magadheera . Well, Rajamouli's Magadheera, a fantasy tale should be seen on many grounds- it's a magnum opus production with great technical work. It's a high-budget extravaganza which shows in almost every frame. It's directed by SS Rajamouli, one of the top directors in the Telugu industry. It's got fine music by MM Keeravani, brilliant camera work by Senthil, good art direction by Ravinder, good styling and costumes by Rama Rajamouli and is edited well by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao. The graphics are excellent for a Telugu movie. Overall, the movie is a mainstream one with good packaging. The tale goes back and forth into the past and the present. The period, the contemporary look and styling of the film is in sync with the depiction. The accomplished and skilled warrior Bhairava (Ram Charan Teja) wants to marry the princess of Udaygarh Mitra (Kajal Agarwal) ) and even wins her in the race against competitor Randev (who is the senapati and the villain, the traitor who allows the enemy Sher Khan into the kingdom) but bows down to the wishes of her father and does not. Bhairava is so consummate a warrior that he even killed 100 warriors of Sher Khan (who has been over riding kingdoms before he eyed Udaygarh) before dying like a true warrior. Bhairava's valour impressed Sher Khan so much that he even cremated him. Cut to modern times where Harsha (Charan) rubs his fingers against a girl in a white churidar and feels a vibration, and realises it's the princess. He remembers his past birth and goes in search of this girl who after a chase reveals her name as Indu (Kajal). Randev is reborn as Raghuvir, Indu's cousin. Raghuvir sees Indu and is smitten by her. Will the lovers reunite in this birth? As far as story is concerned, there's nothing great or new about Magadheera. It's the production and direction which makes up for this. Rajamouli's deft direction plugs the loopholes and knowing the pulse of the audience crafts a mainstream film. In reincarnation stories it's best to forget reason and logic and see the story for one can never question and find answers to them. What's strange is that only the boy remembers and feels the vibrations, and not the girl. There is some kind of similarity to Arundhati in terms of the reincarnation element of the story and the presence of the Aghora. Keeravani's music sounds good on screen. The Bangaru Kodipetta song with Chiru doing a cameo with Mumaith Khan is sure to draw audiences. Keeravani and Kalyani Malik's background score is also in tune and does not overshadow the image. Kim Sharma's item number seemed unwarranted though. Senthil's camera pans a landscape which is 'period' and 'present' in a beautiful way. The sepia tones and the white stark landscapes against a blue sky are stunningly captured. The difference in colour tones mark the periods well. The magnificent sets created by Ravinder especially of Udaygarh are a treat to watch on screen, plus his art direction. Rama's Rajamouli's ensemble's and the styling is rich and elegant and worth a watch. Her effort shows off on screen. Ram Charan seems to be a chip of the old block when it comes to dancing. For, he is very flexible and dances well like his dad. He's got a lot to do in this film from horse riding to sword fighting to singing and dancing. He's done them all pretty well though one felt that he needs to hone his skills of acting further particularly in expressing emotions. Also, one feels he need to have more josh to be a warrior -- at times one felt he was rather subdued. Kajal Agarwal was quite a surprise package. She was sweet and charming and looked like an 'ethereal' princess. She carries off both the roles fairly well. Srihari was at his usual best performing both roles (later he's born as Solomon-the fisherman). The song with all the technicians making their appearance at the end is innovative and Rajamouli should be appreciated for this. Rajamouli has packaged Magadheera well as a mainstream film. Have a look at it for its technical brilliance.

Drona is a big film in all respects -- big stars, big canvas, big expenditure on SFX, big ad spend, big expectations. Sadly, it's a big, big, big letdown as well.

Fantasy/adventure films are a rarity in Bollywood. Actually, you want to laud Goldie Behl for being courageous, for venturing into a lane that's rarely visited by dream merchants here. But the screenplay is a complete mess. In fact, if at all there would be Razzies in Bollywood, the three writers of Drona -- Jaydeep Sarkar, Rohini Killough and Goldie Behl -- should be nominated proto for coming up with a sloppy and slipshod screenplay.

What saddens your heart is the fact that the Lullas of Eros and Shrishti Arya, the producers of Drona, have spared no efforts in giving Drona a spectacular look. The vision is perfect, but how about narrating an absorbing and attention-grabbing story? You remember Drona for its striking visuals, not storyline. It's like embellishing priceless and precious jewels on a mannequin.

What's wrong? Goldie Behl and his writers can't decide if Drona is a superhero film or fantasy. Although the makers have been maintaining all along that it's not about a superhero, the fact is, it is. In Drona, the protagonist does everything that a superhero does. However, the lead character would only look more powerful if the anti-hero is equally authoritative. Surprisingly, the negative force here [Kay Kay Menon] is more of a buffoon than a villain.

More minusses! Dhruv Ghanekar's music is a big yawn. The tunes are listless and the placement of songs is equally jarring. Also, the length is a problem. You wouldn't mind a 3-hour film even today, provided it has the power to keep you glued to the screen. In this case, the 2 + hours seem never-ending. The film goes on and on and after a point, you actually want to scream, 'Enough!'.

In a nutshell, Drona disappoints and how!

Little Aditya has never known love. Brought up by a foster family, all he knows is taunts and humiliations. Aditya [Abhishek Bachchan] grows up. Enter an evil sorcerer Riz Raizada [Kay Kay Menon], a descendant of the Asuras. He is desperate for a precious secret -- the amrit. But to lay his hands on the amrit, he will have to defeat Drona. Problem is he doesn't know who Drona is. One fateful day, Aditya and Riz come face to face. Riz notices the kada that Aditya is wearing and recognizes him as Drona. Riz's men chase him, but he's saved by Sonia [Priyanka Chopra], who makes Aditya realize his true identity.

Sonia takes Aditya to his birthplace, to his mother, Queen Jayati Devi [Jaya Bachchan]. Aditya gets to know his roots, but Riz and his army catch up with him. Thus begins Drona's journey... Given the fact that Drona rests on a thin plot, there's not much that director Goldie Behl can do to salvage the show. Yet, Goldie has executed two sequences with style. In fact, these two sequences stand out like an oasis in a desert. The first, when Kay Kay turns Jaya Bachchan into a statue. The second, the train sequence. Awe-inspiring sequences!

Drona is also high on VFX and a couple of sequences are well implemented. Note the petal storm towards the latter part and also the one when Kay Kay drags Priyanka into his yacht. Sameer Arya's cinematography is, quite surprisingly, inconsistent this time. The lighting is too dark at places. The production design [Tania R. Behl] is innovative.

Jaya Bachchan is grace personified. The only regret is, she gets less footage. Abhishek does very well. He plays his part most convincingly. Priyanka's introduction is fantastic, but her 'Babuji kehte hain' dialogue gets on your nerves after a point. Kay Kay fails to impress. Navneet Nishan hams.

On the whole, Drona lacks soul. At the box-office, the publicity blitzkrieg might ensure good returns in its opening 4-day weekend, but the cracks should start appearing sooner than expected, since the film fails to keep you hooked. Its fall is imminent!

Nallamalupu Srinivas (Bujji) who had produced the blockbuster Lakshmi with Venkatesh, has again roped in the same hero for his next movie Chintakayala Ravi. Lakshmi had some action in the backdrop but this time, Venkatesh has chosen a flick, which has a storyline with family entertainment, with a touch of sentiment. Directed by Yogesh, the film really has the Venkatesh-type of comedy and the film will reminds the audiences of his earlier films Nuvvu Naaku Nachav and the recent Aadavari Maatalaku Ardhale Verule. Though the storyline is a little routine one, the treatment is novel and the audiences will be able to enjoy the flick.

Chintakayala Ravi (Venkatesh) is a normal student. However, he is attached to his mother Seshumamba (Lakshmi) and in order to please her, he convinces that he is a bright student. With the craze for software engineers,Seshu sends him to the US to undergo software engineer course.Ravi spends the money for the surgery of a friend (Venu Thottempudi) and sacrifices his career. In order to make Seshu believe that he is doing a software engineer's job, he stays back in the US by working as a bartender. Seshu continues to believe that he is a software engineer and arranges an alliance with Mamidikayala family.

Lavanya (Mamta Mohandas), who has a craze for staying abroad agrees to marry Ravi. She calls up her friend Sunita (Anushka) in the US to enquire about Ravi. Sunita could not find the software firm with the name, but only finds a bar with the name. Incidentally she comes across Ravi and believes that he is a cheat and a womaniser. Sunita unravels the secret that Ravi is just a bartender and not a software engineer. Lavanya's father (Sayaji Shinde) cancels the alliance and slaps Ravi's father for cheating them right in front of Ravi. So Ravi decides to avenge the insult caused by Sunita. So, he spoils the alliance of Sunita, due to which her father (Chalapati Rao) is admitted hospital with a heart attack. However, Ravi saves him from life threat, when he suffers from breathlessness. In the hospital, Sunitha learns that Venkatesh is a gentleman, who has sacrificed his career to help a friend. This makes Sunitha befriend Ravi and the latter tries to bring an alliance for Sunitha as he had spoiled it. In the course of time, both Sunitha and Ravi fall in love with each other. Meanwhile, Ravi's friends call up the friend whom Ravi had saved and in turn goes to Lavanya's house and explains everything. This sets everything right and again the marriage gets fixed. Being the best friend Sunita also attends the marriage. In the climax, everyone comes to know that Ravi and Sunita are in love with each other and Lavanya steps aside to get them united. The film ends on a happy note.

PLUS:

Venkatesh single handedly manages the entire show. It is he who entertainsthe audiences with his comedy, touches the hearts of woman audiences with his performance in sentimental scenes and enthralls the youth with his dances. He has proved once again that he is an all-rounder beyond an 'image'. Anushka has a lot of scope for performance and surprisingly, the director has ensured that the camera doesn't focus on her waist as other directors choose to cash in on her glamour. She has done a neat job and has got the audiences prepared to see her in a serious role as a prelude to a heroine-oriented film Arundhati with herself playing the title role. Mamta Mohandas' role is limited to a couple of duets in the first half. She does not have much scope to perform. Another speciality of the film is that Young Tiger NT Rama Rao has shaken his legs along with Venkatesh in a song, which has attracted many an audience. As far as direction is concerned, Yogesh has improved a lot from Oka Raju Oka Rani. He has maintained a nice tempo all through the film. Though the first half remains a little nagging, he has got a firm grip in the second half and has made the film interesting. Camera work by Ravindrababu is okay and he has been able to capture the beauty of the US. The colour schemes and lighting also perfectly suits the scenes.

MINUS:

Music by Vishal-Sekhar duo is a minus. The music beat overrides the lyrics in some songs. But for two songs, 'Valla Valla Valla Baby… ' and 'Baagunde…' none of the other songs are impressive. They have copied their own tune from Om Shanti Om for the bit song before the climax. Background score is somewhat better with Manisharma taking charge of it. Editing by Srikar Prasad should have been sharper. Especially, the scenes where the hero brings alliance for Anushka appears boring and is stretched beyond limit. Dialogues by Kona Venkat are partly good. Comedy by Ali was boring and nagging.

REMARKS:

The production values of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Productions are excellent and the producer has spent lavishly for the film as most of the film was shot in the US. No doubt, the film would run well in all the centres. The film would not bring loss to the producer, but its commercial success range could be known on how far the youth and mass audiences receive, especially in the absence of mass masala scenes and action episodes.

It has become very common among the directors these days to prepare a story based on the image of a particular actor. Though they claim that they have prepared a tailor-made story keeping his style and body language in view, it finally comes out as a role which the hero had already played in his career. Gopichand gave hits like Ranam, Lakshyam and Okkadunnadu. Once again he comes out with a similar action flick through Sauryam. Another speciality is that Anushka is paired up with Gopichand for the second time in this flick, while popular cinematographer Siva has made his debut as director through this movie, besides providing story and screenplay.

Vijay (Gopichand) is the son of a goon, who gets killed in an encounter. Vijay could not feed his sister Divya (Poonam Kaur) after they become orphans.When some missionary people take girl orphans to an orphanage, Vijay lies that he doesn't know who is Divya with a hope that she would get meal every day. Though he repents at a later date as Divya starts disowning him. A rich couple adopts Divya and take her with them and Vijay cannot trace her address. Meanwhile, Vijay is brought up by a sincere police officer (Saratbabu) and he becomes an ACP.

Vijay becomes an encounter specialist with his daring and dashing acts. He doesn't know what is fear. This makes him develop enmity with Sivaram Goud, who is a big gangster, amassing crores of rupees through land mafia and other such affairs. He has been in the habit of killing all those police officers, who try to put him behind the bars, with the help of his son (Ajay). Vijay warns Sivaram Goud to mend his ways, but he does not. At this juncture, Vijay comes to know that his sister is in Kolkata and decides to go there. So he applies leave for six months and he informs his superior officer (Benarjee) that he is going to meet his sister.

That crooked police officer leaks the matter to Sivaram Goud and the latter finds the weakness of Vijay. So his goons too set out in search of Divya. Though Vijay meets Divya, he did not reveal their relationship as he doesn't know whether she will accept him or not. On learning that Sivaram Goud is also in search of Divya, Vijay becomes her bodyguard. Incidentally, Sivaram Goud's son catches Divya and Vijay attacks and kills him for trying to kidnap his sister. In order to take revenge for his son's death, Sivaram Goud abducts Divya and threatens to kill her. This makes her realise that Vijay is none other than her sister and pardons him. The film ends on a happy note with the killing of Sivaram Goud.

PLUS:The excellent ease of Gopichand in action scenes is the highlight of the movie and the action scenes in the movie definitely evokes claps from the front benchers. The action scenes and lot of bloodshed, the heavy blasts of vehicles and other action scenes give the film an excellent mass appeal. Gopichand is at his usual best. He has not only shown good ease in action scenes but also emoted well in sentiment scenes too. At the same time he has shown good comedy timing and director Siva has been able to extract good comedy from Gopichand. Anushka has filled the glamour slot and does not have much scope to perform. Manoj K Jayan's villainy is novel. Ajay is okay in his role, while Poonam Kaur, who plays the sister for the hero is appropriate. Others have done justice to their respective roles.

MINUS:Though the film is basically an action film with sister-brother sentiment and love in its backdrop, the show of too much violence and bloodshed is unnecessary. Though the director had a good grip in the first half and maintained good suspense, he lost the same in the second half. Especially, during the narration of the flashback, the director has unnecessarily stretched some scenes. Though the time was made good use for evoking comedy, it has really bored the audience. Marthand K Venkatesh should have pruned these scenes to prevent damage. The climax was also very poorly shot.

REMARKS:Camera work by Vetri is worth the compliments. Music by Manisharma is partly good. Only a couple of tunes are catchy. Once again, the director has tried to utilize Anushka's glamour to woo the audiences. As a mark of sentiment, scenes like Anushka boozing, and using her butt and waist are repeated in this film too. The film, though may not go well with the city audiences, would definitely attract the mass audiences especially in B and C centres. It is a film that could be watched once for those who love action movies.

Where does one begin writing about this film? It is indeed an experience to be seen and heard with the gradeur of the big screen rather than just written and read about. But since it is a ritual to write about a movie after its release, here goes...

Dasavathaaram begins with Kamal's voiceover telling us the story of Rangaraja Nambi, and the movie goes back hundreds of years when the Cholas ruled South India. It begins with a scene when the ardent Saivites insist on wiping out the name of the Hari-chanting Vaisnavites. The Chola king, arrogant with his power, orders the removal of Perumal's idol from a temple. As the Chola ruler's men are at work, a young man comes running into the temple, fights the men and restores the Lord to his original place. This is Nambi, ardent Narayana devotee who is willing to give his life for his Lord, his Narayana.

The incidents that follow are what intellectuals refer to as chaos theory. And that is what our protagonist Govind Ramasamy also talks about. And from all that chaos comes order.

From ancient South India, the story moves to present day US, where Govind (our hero) is working as a scientist, a bio-weapon expert to be more specific. The lab he works for is developing a virus that has the ability to kill millions of people without expending a single bullet. A freak accident in the lab has Govind questioning the purpose of such life-threatening research. He decides to move away from all this, but when he realizes that his boss is out to sell the virus to the highest bidder, he steals the virus from the lab and escapes. What ensues after this is a chase across the globe, from the US to India. Throughout this chase, all the avatars of Kamal are introduced in the story, one by one.

One is so engrossed in the tale that one is not really bothered after some time whether the character is Kamal or not, each character becomes part of the narrative, blends into the plot and the scenes so well, that before one realizes it, one is sucked into the maelstrom of a plot to become a part of the experience.

The third Kamal entering the plot is Christian Fletcher, an ex-CIA agent who wants to lay hands on the bio-weapon and chases Govind all through the film. His aide, the sexy and glamorous Mallika Sherawat, helps Chris in his chase.

One of the most hilarious characters played by Kamal is Balram Naidu, a Telugu CBI officer. The manner in which Kamal has given life to this character is simply amazing. The subtle humour in Balram's accent, mannerisms and dialogues is very commendable. The interactions between Balram and Govind are very funny.

In this entire wild goose chase, Govind bumps into Aandal, a simple girl from Chidambaram. This is also the point where we meet the next Kamal, Krishnaveni, Aandal's senile grandmother who is waiting for the past 50 years or more for her dead son to return.

Many more Kamals get introduced in the story: Avtaar Singh, Punjabi pop star, turban and all. Jaya Prada plays his wife Ranjitha; Shingen Narahashi, a Japanese martial arts expert who wants to extract his revenge from Govind. (Why? Well, you have to watch the movie for that!)

Another character that stands out is Vincent Babruvahan, a Dalit leader. Kamal has made this character so believable, especially the accent is so perfect, for a minute you wonder if it is really Kamal Haasan. Then we have the extremely tall "light house" that is Kaifulla Khan, part of a simple Muslim family. How he gets entangled in this entire chase is for you to see and enjoy. And of course, how can we miss out on George W Bush, who is at his "intelligent" best.

Asin appears as Kodhai, Nambi's wife and then as Aandal. Kodhai's pain when she loses her husband is indeed heart-wrenching. She has once again proved that she is not just a pretty face. As Aandal, her comic sense reminds us of Kalpana of Ghajini at some places. She holds her own against Kamal Haasan and comes out with flying colours.

The rest of the cast, which includes Nagesh and K.R. Vijaya (who play Kaifulla's parents), P. Vasu (a corrupt politician), Rekha (his wife), M.S. Bhaskar (Chris's aide in India), Napoleon (The cruel Chola ruler), have given able support to the story. We also have the special effects guy Brian Jennings appear in a small cameo as Bush's aide in the film.

Talking about the technical aspects of the film, the fact that we see more than one Kamal in a frame explains the effort taken by the team. The sets are simply superb; especially the Chola era and the tsunami scenes are brilliant. Hats off to Thotta Tharani, Samir Chanda and M. Prabhakaran.

The stunts, chases and fight sequences are very thrilling. There are some exciting nail-biting moments. The songs by Vaali and Vairamuthu, set to tune by Himesh Reshammiya look as good on screen as they sound. 'Mukunda Mukunda' in Sadhna Sargam's voice is a beautiful piece and well-captured on camera by Ravi Varman. Two other elements that have contributed immensely to the film are some slick editing by K. Thanigachalam and wonderful background score by Devi Sri Prasad.

And at this point, we have to talk about the man who made all these elements work together, the director K.S. Ravikumar. Of course, he had by his side a brilliant story-screenplay and dialogue writer in the avatar of Kamal Haasan, but full marks to KSR for weaving together so many elements beautifully, to give us this magnum opus Dasavathaaram. Also, kudos to Aascar V. Ravichandran for producing such a masterpiece under his banner. Three cheers will not suffice for this masterpiece!
