Kannada actor Ganesh weds secretly

Kannada actor Ganesh weds secretly
Pressurised by threatening calls and SMS messages from many of his female fans, Kannada actor 'Golden Star' Ganesh advanced his wedding date to February 11. Many female fans even sent suicide threats in front of his ancestral home in Adakamaranahalli village, 30 km from Bangalore. The wedding ceremony was held between 9 pm and 11 pm at the bride Shilpa's home in JP Nagar, a suburb in Bangalore.
Shilpa, who has completed a course in interior designing, did her studies in Dubai. She hails from Barkir near the Brahmavar town in the temple district of Udupi. Her father is a businessman settled in Dubai.
Ganesh has been the luckiest star in the Kannada film industry and in the last 14 months, his five releases have made about Rs 75 crores at the box office. The actor has been seeing Shilpa for almost a year. They were introduced to each other by a common friend, Ravindra Joshi.
The wedding was officially fixed for February 18 at a temple in Brahmavar. But pressure from his fans made Ganesh change his mind and advance the wedding date. "Many of my female fans started telephoning my family, friends and me, and threatened to end their lives," Ganesh said. "They even called director Nagashekhar and producer K Manju who are making my next film, Aramane. The pressure was unbearable for my parents, who are still living in our ancestral house in Adakamaranahalli village. They told me that I should marry immediately, as they feared something may happen to stop the wedding.
"Now, I am married to Shilpa. I want my friends and well wishers to forgive me for this sudden decision," Ganesh said. He plans to have a big reception in Bangalore shortly and invite people from the film industry.
I feel sorry for many of the fans who did not know we were seeing each other," Shilpa told us. "Ganesh is a great entertainer and I am sure he will continue to do his best in the coming days. I will provide him all the encouragement and support to see that he gives his best in every film." Only a few friends and relatives were invited, some of them being Yogaraj Bhat, director of Ganesh's blockbuster films, Mungaru Male and Gaalipata, actor Nagashekhar and producer K Manju.
Yogaraj Bhat said that he was informed of Ganesh's wedding plans only two days ago. "I received another call from the actor an hour ago his wedding that the plans were changed and he is compelled to marry on February 11."

A touching comeback
‘Taare Zameen Par’ has surely been actor Tisca Chopra’s second coming in Bollywood. She tells Madhur Tankha that she looks out for meaningful roles.
Making a mark in her second coming in Bollywood with a sensitive performance as the mother of a dyslexic child in “Taare Zameen Par”, actor Tisca Chopra is now basking in the glory of her much-acclaimed performance that has drawn rave reviews from critics and viewers alike.
“When like-minded people work together, the end product is bound to be good. Earlier when I acted in films like ‘Platform’ with Ajay Devgan and ‘Hyderabad Blues 2’, I wasn’t fully prepared as an actor. The emphasis then was on my looks rather than my acting. But in ‘Taare Zameen Par’ the public fell in love with my character of a mother who is concerned about the well-being of her dyslexic son who is unable to do well in studies,” adds Tisca, who recently won the Max Stardust Readers’ Choice Award for the best supporting actress for her performance in the film.
After performing in Aamir Khan’s film, Tisca has had interesting interactions with people from all walks of life. “A 30-year-old man told his mother that he felt the pains of motherhood after watching my character. The most important thing was that people talked about the film even after coming out of the theatre. It definitely made an impact on the psyche of people. Now people have started seeing special children in a different light.”
“The film has also raised serious concerns about the way our educational system is being handled. A child may not be academically oriented, but he or she may be special in some other field,” she says.
In soap opera “Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki”, Tisca played the villainous role of Mallika. Defending her decision to take up the negative role on the small screen, Tisca says that to grow as an actor she has to play diverse roles. “I want to explore my potential as an actor and can even play a mentally challenged person. In real life I am not a mother, but when I was told to enact the role of one in ‘Taare Zameen Par’ I prepared myself by recollecting how I behaved with my nephew and niece. For a woman it is not difficult to understand the mindset of children.”
Tisca learnt a lot about the craft from co-star Aamir Khan. “It was a wonderful experience. He is a perfectionist in every department of filmmaking. Some people are comparing Aamir with his new protégé Darsheel Safary, but it is not at all fair. While Aamir has done 50 to 60 films, Darsheel is only one-film-old and his acting skills have been brought to the fore by Aamir. That Darsheel is vying with actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar for the best actor trophy at the Filmfare awards goes to prove that the film industry is now not looking at an actor’s age but his talent.”
Stating that she knew a bit about dyslexia before signing up the challenging role, the actor says her background of theatre helped her to relate better with the character. “Theatre tests you as an actor. I have worked with Feroz Abbas Khan in the play ‘Mahatma vs. Gandhi’ and also with Naseeruddin Shah.”
“Whether you doing film, theatre, television or a commercial, you must do it from the heart, otherwise there is no point. That is why the public appreciated my performance in ‘Taare Zameen Par’ because they could empathise with my feelings towards the child. I am also doing Nandita Das’s ‘In Such Times’. The film is also special, but I don’t want to talk about it. I am also reading three scripts but haven’t given a nod to any of them.”
Tisca wants to be associated with movies which touch the audience. “When people cough up their hard earned money for a movie ticket then they must be given value for money. I want to be a part of films that make a difference to society,” she says.
